WHAT’S INSIDE EACH BOX? DOES THE BOX SHIP AS SHOWN?
This is not a subscription box so there are no surprises here. We put a lot of care and effort into curating our boxes, so what you see on each product page is what you get. Any variations would be noted in the description. On the rare occasion that we are out of stock on an item, we will replace it with an similar item of equal or greater value or refund the out of stock item. Each box ships in a shipper box so it stays nice and pretty for when its opened.
DO THE BOXES COME WITH A NOTE?
Each box includes a handwritten note. You simply provide us with your message, and we will handle the rest. Be sure to check your spelling, we write exactly what you put down.
MY BOX IS A GIFT. I DON’T WANT A RECEIPT OR ANY PRICES.
We never include receipts or inventory/package slips inside our boxes, knowing they are almost always a gift. In terms of pricing we don’t alter any of our products by removing tags or crossing out labels – in order to keep the product beautiful and intact. Many of our products don’t have price tags in the first place and when they do, they are small and subtle.
WHERE DO YOU SHIP?
We ship anywhere in the United States, even Hawaii and Alaska.
IS SHIPPING INCLUDED?
While we are always striving to keep shipping costs low, per box shipping is an additional cost per address.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR MY ORDER TO ARRIVE?
Please allow 1-2 business days for processing from when you place your order. Then your box can take 2-5 business days to arrive via standard shipping, depending on the delivery address.
Please Note: We do offer delivery, within a 15 mile radius from the zip code 43209 zip code, fees may apply. This option when available will show up on the shipping page. On occasion we do allow order pick up. When offered that option will show up at shipping with instructions. Order pickup is typically on Saturdays only.
IT SAYS THE DELIVERY OF MY BOX WAS UNSUCCESSFUL, WHAT NOW?
Once a product is shipped, we are limited in what we can do, but please contact us and let us know if this should happen. If the delivery was unsuccessful due to customer error, most often an incorrect input address, we are happy to send a replacement. Fees may apply.
MY BOX SAYS IT WAS DELIVERED BUT MY RECIPIENT NEVER GOT IT.
Have them take a good look in and around the front and backyard, lobby etc. there’s a good chance it’s hiding somewhere, this happens from time to time. If your box was delivered according to your tracking but the recipient didn’t get it, please contact us and we will work with you to help locate it including calling the carrier and delivery building. Beyond that, unfortunately this is a rare situation which is out of our control and could be attributed to any number of things, including packages being lost or stolen. We recommend filing a carrier claim.
WHERE CAN I FIND THESE BOXES IN REAL LIFE? DO YOU DO POP-UPS?
Though we are an online retailer we do participate in events locally and throughout the country. Please see our events page for more info on upcoming events we will be participating in.
DO YOU OFFER CORPORATE GIFTING OR VOLUME GIFTING?

DO THE BOXES EVER CHANGE?
Yes, we are constantly innovating and updating our product portfolio to refresh existing boxes and adding new box ideas.
WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?
All sales are final. Due to the curated nature of our business we don’t accept returns or exchanges. If you receive a box or product from our marketplace with a missing item (humans do pack them) or an item is received damaged please email us promptly at orders@shopmelanbird.com with pictures and will make it right. Email must be received within 7 days of delivery receipt.
WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU MEAN BY BRANDS CREATED BY BLACK, INDIGENOUS AND PEOPLE OF COLOR?
While most of the products and goods included in your pre-curated Melanbird gift box are from African American brands we also include products from other people of color (such as Latinos, Asian, Middle Eastern, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders and other indigenous people) people who are often considered minorities in the US. They are the creative minds behind the brands we carry. While the products we carry in our boxes are from a distinct market of brands, our curated boxes are for anyone, just like they can be given for any occasion.
